The Enteric System

I love it when I hear a client’s tummy gurgling in a Bowen session. To me it’s a great sign that the enteric nervous system is responding to the treatment. Why am I interested in making friends with the enteric nervous system? Otherwise known as our second brain it consists of sheaths of neurons embedded in the walls of the long tube of our gut, or alimentary canal, which measures about NINE (!!!) meters end to end from the esophagus to the anus. The second brain contains some 100 MILLION NEURONS (!!) , more than in either the spinal cord or the peripheral nervous system.
